Dia de Muertos Celebration at Haida House, MOA

Celebrate Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) the Museum of Anthropology at UBC and Latincouver. For this special day, MOA will stay open late—until 9pm—with an evening of full of festivities. Visit the Day of the Dead altar in MOA’s Haida House, made by local Mexican artist Paloma Morales (free), and contribute photos and mementos of your loved ones to the altar. Explore MOA’s bilingual English-Spanish feature exhibition, visit Xicanx: Dreamers + Changemakers / Soñadores + creadores del cambio (with museum admission; $10 after 5pm), featuring over 30 artists of Mexican American heritage who self-identified as Xicanx. And enjoy many other fun activities and performances.

5 p.m. Doors open
6:30-7:30pm: Performance by Mariachi Los Dorados and Casa Meshiko-Mexica Aztec Dance Group (MOA’s Haida House, free)
5–9pm: Traditional Day of the Dead treats (hot chocolate, coffee, pan de muerto) (free); Tamales by Antojos y Sabores (for sale)
5–9pm: Visit MOA’s Day of the Dead Altar (MOA’s Haida House, free)
5–9pm: Guided and self-guided tours of Xicanx: Dreamers + Changemakers / Soñadores + creadores del cambio (MOA, $10 museum admission required)
