  • 2008 - Latin Plaza?

Paola Murillo arrived in 2005. She used to work for an HR company when her passion was helping newcomers to find jobs. In 2007, she worked for Canadian Heritage. When arrangements were just being made for the Vancouver Olympics, she realized that Latinos did not have a place or voice in the city. Her passion evolved towards creating a common physical space, the Latin plaza, where people can gather, help, support each other and grow, while creating a stronger voice in British Columbia.

  • 2009 - Latincouver is born

We were welcomed within the Latin American communities in 2009 with a huge launch party. Latincouver, the “virtual plaza in BC”, was officially born. We presented our 1st Carnaval del Sol in Vancouver at the Hellenic Community.

  • 2012 - ExpoPlaza and Inspirational Latin Awards

Another special year for Latincouver: we launched two new events. First, ExpoPlaza Latina was created to establish more business liaisons between Canada and Latin America. Later, the Inspirational Latin Awards will see the light of this city to recognize outstanding Latin personalities thriving in our province. In this year, Carnaval del Sol was extended to a 2-day event—one day was no enough for that much fun!
