In May, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will launch new immigration programs. They are intended for employees in hospitals and long-term care homes, front-line workers in other essential sectors, as well as international graduate students from educational institutions in Canada.
The program is organized as follows:
20,000 applications for temporary workers in health care
30,000 applications for temporary workers in other selected essential occupations
40,000 applications for international students who graduated from a Canadian educational institution
To be eligible, workers need at least one year of Canadian work experience in a healthcare profession or another pre-approved essential occupation. International graduates must have completed an eligible Canadian post-secondary program within the last four years and no earlier than January 2017.
As a general requirement for applicants, both graduates and workers must be proficient in one of Canada’s official languages; meet the admissibility requirements; and be present, authorized to work in Canada at the time of your application to be accepted. They must also reside in any Canadian province, except Quebec.
